About this route
US-12 from Lewiston up the Clearwater River and then along the Lochsa River all the way to Lolo Pass on the Montana line, at about 1,595 m. Mile after mile of river curves through canyon and forest, with very few towns. Fuel is scarce after Kooskia, so fill up before. Logging trucks use the road, and rock fall is common after rain.
