About this route
Sofala Road from Bathurst past Peel and Wattle Flat to the old gold town of Sofala on the Turon River, then Hill End Road through the historic gold town of Hill End and Hargraves to the Castlereagh Highway near Mudgee. Hilly and winding all the way, with steep sections near the Turon, dry bush and wide views over the ranges. Sofala and Hill End are both worth a stop; fuel up in Bathurst or Mudgee. Central NSW. This ride joins the two parts of Tourist Drive 3. Australia drives on the left. Watch for kangaroos and wallabies at dawn and dusk, and for cattle grids and stock on the road in farm country.
Check road conditions and closures before you ride.
