About this route
From Kempsey to the surf town of Crescent Head, north through Gladstone along the Macleay River, across to Clybucca and Eungai Rail, and out to the coast again at Stuarts Point and Scotts Head. River flats, wetlands, forest and two small beach towns, on quiet roads that stay off the highway. South West Rocks is a short detour from the Jerseyville turn. North Coast. This ride joins the two parts of Tourist Drive 12 and Tourist Drive 14. Australia drives on the left. Watch for kangaroos and wallabies at dawn and dusk, and for cattle grids and stock on the road in farm country.
Check road conditions and closures before you ride.
