About this route
From the M1 at Calga over Peats Ridge and Mangrove Mountain, through Kulnura and Laguna to Wollombi, then via Millfield and Cessnock to Branxton. A favourite with Sydney riders: ridge-top bends on the first half, a twisty run down the valley along the Great North Road, and Hunter Valley vineyards at the end. Upper Hunter. Australia drives on the left. Watch for kangaroos and wallabies at dawn and dusk, and for cattle grids and stock on the road in farm country.
