About this route
From Stanthorpe in Queensland across the border through Amosfield and past Boonoo Boonoo National Park to Tenterfield, then a loop out of town past Mount Mackenzie Lookout. Granite country, high plateau and forest on quiet back roads, with views over Tenterfield and the tablelands from the lookout. You cross from Queensland into NSW on the way. This ride joins Tourist Drives 7 and 9. The tablelands get frost and sometimes snow from June to August: expect ice in shaded bends on cold mornings. Australia drives on the left. Watch for kangaroos and wallabies at dawn and dusk, and for cattle grids and stock on the road in farm country.
Check road conditions and closures before you ride.
