About this route
From Kiama on the coast inland through Jamberoo and up Jamberoo Mountain Road to the Illawarra Highway near Robertson, then back down the escarpment over Macquarie Pass to Albion Park. Two of the steepest and tightest climbs in the Illawarra, both through rainforest with hairpins and low speed limits; Robertson at the top is the place for a break. Albion Park is a short ride from Kiama, so this works as a half day loop. Wet and slippery after rain. Illawarra. This ride joins Tourist Drive 9 and the escarpment part of Tourist Drive 8. Australia drives on the left. Watch for kangaroos and wallabies at dawn and dusk, and for cattle grids and stock on the road in farm country.
