The Cherohala Skyway from Robbinsville, North Carolina, over the mountains of the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests to Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Wide, smooth sweepers that climb to over 1,600 m with long views over the ridges. No fuel and no services along the way, so fill up at either end. Close to Deals Gap and US-129 at the Robbinsville end. Snow and ice can close it in winter.
