About this route
The southern end of the Parkway, from Cherokee at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains past Asheville to the Mount Mitchell turn-off (NC-128). The highest and twistiest part: the road tops out near Richland Balsam at about 1,845 m, runs through a string of rock tunnels and passes Craggy Gardens. Speed limit 45 mph at most, no trucks, and no fuel on the Parkway itself: plan your stops in the towns just off it. Sections close in winter and in bad weather. When we imported this route, our map data showed the Parkway closed from the Mount Mitchell turn-off to Linville Falls, so stage 2 starts at Linville Falls. Check the NPS road status before you ride.

Modified by Motarva: snapped to roads, split into stages, a gap filled by routing. This is not an official route file from the FHWA.
