About this route
From Linville Falls around Grandfather Mountain and over the Linn Cove Viaduct, the bridge that hugs the mountainside, past Blowing Rock to the US-421 crossing at Deep Gap. Short but one of the best bits of the Parkway, with tight curves around Grandfather Mountain. Speed limit 45 mph at most, no trucks, and no fuel on the Parkway itself: plan your stops in the towns just off it. Sections close in winter and in bad weather. When we imported this route, our map data showed a short piece of the Parkway at the US-421 crossing closed, so stage 3 starts just past it.
