5 short motorcycle routes in Belgium under 150 km

5 short motorcycle routes in Belgium under 150 km

A few hours free and an itch to ride? A route under 150 km is a good place to start. There’s time left for a coffee stop and you don’t have to plan a whole trip. Just don’t forget the ride from home to the start.

These five routes are all in Belgium and all on Motarva. Two are loops, three run from A to B. That difference matters: a loop brings you back where you began, the other three leave you to plan the way home. It isn’t a top five. Take whatever suits where you live and how much time you have.

The five side by side

Route Distance (approx.) Start and finish Shape
De Vlaamse Ardennen 81 km Oudenaarde to Oudenaarde Loop
Heusden-Zolder – Overijse 114 km Heusden-Zolder to Overijse A to B
Zoersel-Lier 130 km Zoersel to Lier A to B
Houffalize 135 km Houffalize to Houffalize Loop
Van Robertville naar Bonneville 138 km Robertville to Bonneville A to B

The distance is the route file’s. Getting there, getting home and stops are not included.

1. De Vlaamse Ardennen: 81 km from Oudenaarde

The shortest of the five starts and finishes in Oudenaarde, in the Flemish Ardennes. No hunting for a way back to the start afterwards. A good pick if you live nearby and don’t want to spend the whole day in the saddle.

2. Heusden-Zolder to Overijse: 114 km, different finish

This one runs from Heusden-Zolder in Limburg to Overijse, south-east of Brussels. It works best when that direction fits your day: you’re meeting someone on the way, or you turn a trip you had to make anyway into a proper ride. If you live close to the start, count the way back.

3. Zoersel to Lier: 130 km in the province of Antwerp

Starting in Zoersel and finishing in Lier, this is one for riders around Antwerp. Look at the whole line, not just the two town names: the towns are close together, the route turns them into 130 km.

4. Houffalize: 135 km and back to the start

An Ardennes ride with no separate trip back: this loop returns to Houffalize. Perfect if you’re staying there. Coming from further away, the ride there can still turn it into a full day out. Under 150 km doesn’t mean you’re done in two hours.

5. Robertville to Bonneville: 138 km as part of your day

This ride starts in Robertville and ends in Bonneville. It fits when both places are part of your plans, for example during a longer stay in Wallonia. If all you want is a loop from where you’re staying, the two loops above are easier.

Which one fits your afternoon?

Start with the time you have. Take off the ride there, the ride back and one stop. Put what’s left next to the estimated riding time on the route page. In doubt, go for fewer kilometres: then a diversion or a longer break won’t squeeze your day.

These routes were shared by Motorrijder.be. Check the line and the conditions before you go: a route file doesn’t mean every road is open today.

Frequently asked questions

Are all five loops?

No. Oudenaarde and Houffalize start and finish in the same place. The other three link two different places.

Is a short route right for every rider?

Distance alone says little. Look at the bends, the kind of roads, the conditions and your own experience too.

Where do I find the route file?

Open the route page and choose download. With a free Motarva account you can download public routes as GPX.
