Route du Fjord: Tadoussac around the Saguenay fjord

Around the Saguenay fjord: route 172 along the north side from Tadoussac past Saint-Fulgence to the city of Saguenay, then route 170 along the south side past Rivière-Éternité toward Petit-Saguenay. Hilly, winding roads through forest, with side roads down to the water at the villages. This line ends on route 170 south of Petit-Saguenay; from there it is about 30 km to Saint-Siméon and the ferry back to Tadoussac at Baie-Sainte-Catherine. Québec drives on the right and posts speeds in km/h. The roads stay open in winter, but the riding season runs roughly from May to October: early and late in the year, expect frost heaves, gravel on the shoulders and wildlife at dusk.
