  1. Sign in. Downloading needs a free account; the file itself stays free.
  2. Open the route and click Download. On the map, open a route and Download is the first button in its panel.
  3. In Choose a format, pick the file your device wants.
  4. Save the file, then follow the steps for your device.

Which format?

  • GPX: works on most sat-navs and phone apps. Pick this one if you are not sure.
  • TCX: for Garmin devices that read TCX.
  • FIT: for newer Garmin devices.
  • ITN: for TomTom sat-navs. An ITN file carries the route points but not the stops along the way.

GPX, TCX and FIT also carry the route’s stops, such as a fuel stop the maker added.

After the download

We ask Where will you ride it?. Pick Garmin, TomTom, iPhone or Android for three short steps and a link to the full guide. On a computer you also see a QR code to get the Motarva app for iPhone.

Private routes

A private route can only be downloaded by the rider who made it.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Download ask me to sign in?

Downloads need a free account. After signing in, the format choice opens again.

Can I send a route straight to the Motarva app?

Not from the website. Open the same route in the app: it uses the same routes and your same account.
